Over the last few months, we have had several wonderful guests in the Aural Bliss chatroom including Electronica vocalist Jes (Motorcycle, Solarstone), Anna-Lynne Williams (Trespassers William), Priscilla Hernandez, Sleepthief, Harland, The Silent Alarm, Ask For Joy, Halou and members of Bell Hollow, The Daysleepers, Tearwave, Ether Aura and Au Revoir Borealis.
We also had visits from Dean Garcia (Curve, SPC ECO, The Secret Meeting) and KaRIN + Statik (Collide, The Secret Meeting). A recurring question seemed to be...What is going on with Toni Halliday these days?
Well, we are going to let her tell you herself. On Sun April 13, former Curve frontwoman, Toni Halliday, will be in the chatroom during the Aural Bliss broadcast for a meet and greet to discuss her new project Chatelaine
Click the Auralgasms Chat Room link on the Auralgasms Radio page. You will be prompted for a Name...this is not a Login ID but simply a handle by which you will be known during your chat session. You will meet your hosts Zumby and Mikeylove, the Bliss listeners from all over the world, and on this special night...Toni Halliday. Don’t miss this once in a life time opportunity!
During the evening, you will hear our usual blend of Ethereal Dreampop, Britpop, Triphop, Shoegaze and Electronica on the Aural Bliss show which airs Sunday nights 10PM-Midnight EST on
New Toni Halliday Project: Chatelain It looks like 2008 is shaping up to be an incredible year for Toni Halliday related projects and news. It looks like Toni has been working on an incredible new project called Chatelain, check out two of her re-invented and gorgeously wrought new tracks "Oh Daddy" and "Stripped Out" here on Chatelain's MySpace page (and only "official" website as of now):
The sound is very much of a departure from the sexy, cerebral wall of sound that was Curve. Toni has comically suggested that it sounds like "ramped-up Enya" but it is so much more than that. Mixing epic string arrangements with a vague distressed quality and a very deep emotional tone makes this music indeed a re-invention. I think we're all in for something very special with Chatelain and I hope that it gets the coverage and attention Toni deserves for this beautiful and brave sounding new work.
We have all been waiting a very long time for this news:
It looks as though the Scylla MySpace page I created as a last-ditch effort got someone's attention. I nearly fainted when I got a message from a very generous soul that her friend Boris had in his possession the entire Scylla 12 track demo. Listening to these lost songs for the first time was a total religious experience for me and I'm sure you will all be in for a very cool ride when you listen to them. Hopefully this will generate some much needed buzz on Toni. Boris has been exceptionally generous and has made all of these tracks download-able from a special page he created for Scylla:
The Scylla Demo's In 1995 I was lucky enough to be the road manager for Scylla Toni Halliday’s post Curve project. We spent the summer touring around the UK playing small clubs and Toni stipulated that her name be kept off of any advertising posters for the gigs, it was all very low key. They were a great band, 2 girl guitar players and 2 guys on bass and drums (sorry I cant remember their names) and Toni on vocals of course.
At the end of the summer they went into the studio to record some demo’s for a possible album, and that’s as far as the band went, shortly after completing the demo’s Toni decided to knock the whole thing on the head, which was a great shame as I thought they could have been a very successful band.
So all that was left were these 12 tracks recorded with the help of Toni’s husband Alan Mulder and their good friend Flood, 2 of the worlds top record producers, not bad for a bunch of demo’s.
Luckily I got a copy of them on cassette, unfortunately it wasn’t the best copy as it had been recorded a little too hot and had very slight distortion on it, but it was still very listenable to, and that was as far as it went, the cassette got lost in my large collection of tapes and sort of forgotten for ten years. And then recently having a bit of a clear out I came across it again and had a listen and was struck by how good it really was and decided to transfer it to CD. I wondered if it had ever been released at all and after a fruitless search on google realised that it was known about, but no one had actually heard any of the tracks apart from Helens Face, which was used in the film showgirls. So I decided for historical and musical reasons it was time people got to hear this great music.
If this music ever gets a proper release then I will shut down the site I set up for these downloads and go out and buy the CD, which I hope you will as well.

Ok, so.....I'm watching the video for the Boo Radley's "Lazarus", the first time in....uhhh, 15 years, when suddenly I see a flash of an all too familiar face. Keep an eye on the brunette in the fur coat applying shaving cream:
"So...I've recently discovered that this will be an official Sony BMG release. Toni and I are finalizing tracklisting and artwork. It will be a low price album with no new or unheard tracks...Stictly for the collector. At the moment they are looking at a June/July 07 release date. More when I have it..
Whether or not it will be released in the states remains to be seen.
